Hi all
Been asked to go and give a quote to put some outside lighting around a haulage yard, hes stipulated energy efficient or as he put it cheap running fittings that are going to be on all night ( controlled via photocell and time clock) my question is what do you recommend, son? metal halide? or just floods, hes been broken into a couple of times recently so ideally something that gives good lighting
thanks

If you havent done this before most wholesalers will supply a lighting design engineer free as long as you use their products, after doing this a few times you tend to pick it up and not require them.

Metal halides will give you the best light at most economical running costs. they will take a while to warm up if on PIR, Sodiums are yellow and around the same running costs as metal halide.

If you go for halogens put them on PIR sensors or it will cost a fortune to run

Usual kit is SON or metal halide. Plenty of light for your buck.

You can use CFL as Wotsit stated, but you will need more of them as they are only equivalent to approx 250W halogen.
