hello all

i am wanting to wire up some outside lights on my parents house, nothing major just one lantern outside door then a corner lamp, just wondering on the best method obviously dont really want to use twin and earth outside and it is near impossible t rip boards up as just decorated so looking at running externally but as discreet as possible, do i use swa or next door have had something similar and looks to be wired in some black round flex type cable and surface clipped, any help appreciated, have done likes of gjd lighting systems in past and seen conduit run in places but think it could look a little unsightly

thanks for your help, i dont do this stuff every day my main field is fire and security etc then telecoms and tv/sat

Are you having them switched together??? if you are looking to wire one light off the other just drill a 20mm hole into the cavity at an angle as steep as you can go, at each point that you want the lights, then cable rod up the cavity into the loft. The cavity might be capped so you might have to take out a couple of bricks (it will help to have a friend helping so you know which brick the cable rod is hitting) tape the cable to the rods and pull the cable rods through. ( i know it is a bit naughty but I am sure we have all done it:eek:) It might take a little while to do, but it will look a lot better than conduit or cleating S.W.A to the wall and trying to make it off properly into a light fitting. Hope this helps
