putting a new outside light circuit in. 6amp supply. 2 PIR lights

Would you guys put a sw in at high level as isolation?? Or is the mcb an adequate isolation point.

can i double up in the mcb or would it be better to have a maintenance free JB.

Thanks

depends really, i sometimes tap into the ring main and run off a FCU with a 3A fuse as an isolation point, then if it needs maintenance, it can be isolated via the FCU
All depends what the load is already on the existing 6A light cct and whether the 2 new lights would take it past its threshold.
Also, if the current installation is not RCD protected, u can run them from an RCD FCU and check bonding etc??!!!

Im doing a fuse board change and i intend on creating a 6A outside light circuit so loaded wont b a problem. Just would like to kno if you would double up in the mcb(radial to each light and use mcb as isolation). Or is this fowned upon. Alternatives would be to have a 10A double pole isolation sw and then radial off the switched side to each light? Or i could have a double pole switch for each light. Lights are 60w PIR bulkheads. Thanks

are both fittings to be switched with one PIR or will there be 1 PIR per light??

I dont see the point in "doubling up" in the MCB. Just run it as a radial for both fittings. MCB's can be used as isolation however this may not always be best as depending on CU location.

Depending on install I would usually just feed from ring main using FCU at 3A and use this as isolation.

Bulkhead fittings with integral PIR. Floor boards are up for other new circuits so wasjust going to have independant outside light circuit. And the idea of double up was so i didnt need to jb under floor boards. or i could have Indepedant sw for each. Thanks

Always good to have an internal switch for any pir operated light in my opinion, as a means of isolation and control
Most pir lights can now utilize that internal switch to produce different set up modes, eg, if they wanted the light on for a couple of hours for a barbeque or such,it can be triggered into the req mode without much hastle

Whether its 2 cables at the mcb, or looped at the switches, either method is far superior to any sort of junction.either traditional or the new fangled, fragile wago contraptions
