Hello

I have just moved in to a new house and am going to replace the current Outside Security Light it currently has a cable running directly from the light to a 13amp plug:confused:.

Obviously i want to rectify this, am i able to add this light on to the existing lighting circuit with a 3amp fused spur.

The current circuit has a 6amp MCB and is also RCD protected, ive checked the load on the circuit and its is well within the 6amp.

Thanks Ricky

Ricky this sounds on the face of it ok but I have always steered away from this as the outside light becomes your weakest link so connecting it to an existing circuit is not wrong but good practise is to keep it seperate as what can happen is that water gets into it and when it pops the fuse it takes the other lights with it.

Just a thought
