A friend has asked me to put an outside socet in for him, It's a simple run, basically about 3 m in length. I am going to use an IP55 weatherproof socket, but not sure what size breaker to use 16A or 20A? Could one of you kind gents please advise me? It will be on a 30mA RCD as well

Cheers

Sorry I forgot to add that he is going to build an extension on the side of his house in a few months and want me to install a ring and some lighting there. The ouside socket will be used purely for building the extension....

Thanks

if the builders are using 110 transformers it may be wise to fit a (type d) 20a mcb as the inrush of the larger transformers will cause nuisence tripping and muddy footprints into the house, if its only a small transformer ayou can normally get away with a type c

Hi mate, what is the extension going to be:confused:Kitchen or living room:confused:If you are only doing the outside socket for the extension, just run an extension lead till the extension goes up;)

As it is outside then don't forget it is notifiable to the LABC if your not a member of a scheme.
