hi guys couldnt see a section i should have posted this in so il post it here anyways ive a friend of mine who does a lot of charity work at Halloween and christmas for the kids at the local childrens hospital and he asked me this question,

i do a halloween and a xmas display each year the halloween one i do 4 charity (alder hey hospital), problem is i use that much power ( 2 many plugs of one extension) i melted all my plugs n extension leads at xmas.

was wondering if their was a way of doing a power point out side that i can runner a lot of lights or other power stuff, and how much it would cos

with me not being a spark my answer was .for him to buy power reducing transformers from 240 to 110v
but obviously theres a better answer to this problem my friend has that i dont know about .
so any help to this question would be really great thanks

If you are running that many lights on that circuit and it melted your plugs and extension leads it will cause a fire.Maybe a dedicated circuit just for this purpose. You would have to work out the demand with all the lights that you are using.A spark would know that anyway.Won't the hospital run in a separate supply for you.

yer il have to ask him m8 but im sure he,s doing these firework displays from home . as im pretty sure Hospitals have dedicated outside supply sockets anyway. but il ask him tomorrow .As i dont know him in person just from a forum we are both on (were both from the same area)

Assuming it is taking place at his house & not at the hospital then fitting some suitable IP socket outlets in his garden sounds like one perfectly logical answer to avoid the severe overloading he`s suffered (could have resulted in unexpected firework display)
Impossible to give an even vague quote over a forum without more info but suitable 2 gang socket outlets range from approx ÂŁ10 for a cheapo to ÂŁ30 for the best (MK Masterseal etc) As it`s outside the work is notifiable so would have to be certified by a Part P registered spark & tell your mate to make sure he is & he receives the neccesary certification.
