Hi,
I have a Baumatic B600 oven. The element died and I have bought a new one to replace the old one. Unfortunately I did not take proper notice of which wire went to which terminal. How do I make sure I attach the wires to the correct place? There are two black wires, and one which is green/yellow, which I assume is the earth.

Can anyone help, please?

Thank you very much,

Will

Well if it only has two terminals connect a black wire to each and earth to the earth terminal which is usually the middle one connected to the metelwork, don't see how you can go wrong.

:D you would be supprised :) i got a call out to a cooker once they were getting shocks off. it turned out the element had been replaced and the earth had been connected to the wrong terminal (oops)

Try to post a photo of the end of the element. Though polarity of the element is not an issue, so L or N doesnt matter. Get your multimeter and check the continuity of the element terminals(usually distinctly either end of the fixing plate), these would have continuity. The earth G/Y usually attaches to a terminal on the centre of the fixing plate and would normally have no continuity between the other terminals unless faulty. Hope that helps.

normally you have one wire shorter than other if so fit the 1st short black wire to the nearest terminal and the longest one to furtherest one and the grey/ yellow one two the middle terminal which will be the earth

Oh I get that for sure. Here it's not the problem though. The oven is in very good condition, and works well, just the heating element is warped...
