Hi,
I am looking for suggestions for a panel builder particularly round the Bristol area who could build up an over / under voltage protection unit using a suitable protection relay, contactor and so on and also be able to design the enclosure.

Thanks

James

Im too busy at moment and clearly no where near but that aside and just out of interest what is the panel controlling as this will be a key factor as to how its designed and built and im happy to throw in some pointers.

Hi,
Single phase about 3KVA, test equipment fitted to a van, about 2 to 12 units a month. Would like an enclosed module made up so a typical electrican world wide would be able to connect up. Also considering using a 3KVA transformer and an insulation monitor to provide further protection.

Not sure if world wide was a figure of speech but if you intend to use this world wide you will need to ensure it conforms to all the varying standards though-out the globe not an area im covered for in my insurance , you still haven't really expressed what its actually protecting, is it monitoring the power for the test equipment and/or does it provide E/stop safety system too.

What is the risk assessment cat'?
What voltages are we talking?
What is been tested?

I think you will need to liaise one to one to design this ... as mentioned before i won't be able to offer my services and on that note i will declare 'Im Out!'

Good luck though would have been an interesting project that may be actually simpler than you think but again lacking so much info.

World wide as I have customers in the Uk and the far east. The load is upto 3KVA of test equipment powered from an unknown generator, with unknown earthing. The test equipment is fitted into a van. The unit in question is to isolate the supply when outside the specification 210 - 253VAC such as generator start or unsuitable generator being used. Given the lack of proper earting the use of a 3KVA double insulated isolationg transformer and earth fault monitor may be of interest.

I am also considering in addition the use of a resonant transformer, but the load has a nasty inrush current. The box does not have to provide an estop but if it did it would have to be SIL 3.

I would like to buy a tested module I could just screw to the side of the van and connect to some din rail inside it.
