overhead 3 wire

My house 1947 has a 3wire overhead 200 amp main as far as ground is concerned should there be a visable ground wire to a rod in the ground and to a gas or water main visable because i dont see one and just want to know if i should call a electrician for safety . i do see a ground wire in my main panel though.
