Hi, I have a job where I need to get a 10mm single phase cable from farm house (not a working farm) to outbuilding for a solar pv installation. Client adamant he does not want cable in a trench and wants it overhead from gable end to gable end.

The distance is 22m, was thinking 10mm split concentric would be best option, but have never spanned a cable this size over this distance.

Any advice would be appreciated, is it feasible, i.e using centenary wire, any hints or tips.

Thank you.

split con. on a catenary would be OK, bearing in mind the height restrictions ( pedestrian or vehicles), are your calcs. worked out right? your catenary fixings would have to be sound for that sort of cable weight also.

The pull-out forces on a 22meter span of catenary with 10mm cable attached to it will be huge.

if the gable is brick you could use hilti chemical adhesive capsules and once set screw eye bolts in.

But then you have to worry of the tension/weight pulling the whole brick out.
