I am a time served 17th edition electrician with 11 years experience (including apprenticeship). I have a mainly commercial and industrial background.
I am considering training in a different area of work to give myself more options should I get laid off. Working on overhead powerlines is something I am interested in but not sure where to start, is it something I could do off the back of my current qualifications with a few courses, or is it a case of starting from scratch? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

What used to be called the Regional Electricity Boards!!

DNO as stated above, basically the old Electricity Boards. DNO's look after the network..ie the transformers, sub stations and all cables that supply electricity. Not sure re your area.....could be Northern powergrid or Electricity northwest. Goggle DNO..see the list/areas
