I have a three phase supply in my house in Azerbaijan. The incoming cable from the meter is 4x35mm SWA with a 120A DNO breaker, CU is a Schneider Acti 9 and I have earth rods buried in the garden. I did all the electrical work myself apart from first fix cables in the house, in about 2014. There are 7 sub-CUs, all three phase of which the largest is for the 17 split ACs. Each floor has at least 3 ring mains so these were balanced (AFAIR) one on each phase.

At the time I also bought an Owl Intuition electricity monitor (3 phase, high power version) but in the end I didn't install it, because I did a fairly neat job on connecting the SWA to the CU but just didn't leave enough slack in the cables to attach the rather bulky sensors.

So now I'm wondering whether to finish the job or just leave it. I'd have to disconnect power to the whole house, then cut about 3-6 inches off the SWA and feed it back into the CU, refix the gland, shape the 35mm live conductors to be able to fit the clamp-over OWL sensors in a pretty confined space.

I don't have any particular issues with my electricity bills, they go up a bit in summer when the aircons are on, but all pretty predictable. So i'm wondering...is it really worth the bother? I'm kinda wondering if in reality it is just a boys toy now. I suppose it might tell me how well I balanced the phases, but I've not had any problems.

So I suppose the question is, has anyone used an Owl Intuition (3 phase) and what did it do for you? Was it to solve a short-term issue or was there a long-term benefit?

It's difficult to comment without seeing some photos of the supply cable in the consumer unit.

You could always use ferrules and heatshrink to extend the supply wires by a few inches inside the CU.
