I have been offered some twin and earth cable at a good price. I haven't jumped at it as I want to make sure it's genuine first.

The brand is Ozler. It is 6242yh which is the British standard. Has anyone used or heard of Ozler before?

At ÂŁ14 for a roll of 100m 1mm twin and earth I've just got a few alarm bells!

Could always message the seller and ask them for the paperwork, it might even exist! Or send some to John Ward to test out....

At least if anything happens, saying you bought cable from a recognised suppler from a recognised brand shows some sort of due diligence, even if it's Toolstation or Screwfix.
Was in an E5/JW video that they made mention of just because it's from Screwfix/Toolstation doesn't mean it's 100% kosher; the main reference being thier lever connectors, you know the ones - naff all compliance info on the website listing and I believe sod all on the packaging either.

Yep, one of the more recent E5 podcasts. I have some of the connectors in questionactually, and I think they came in a bag with no information at all... Nice idea though and I've so far only used them in 12V lighting or for temporary connections.

Though it *should* be reasonable to assume that someone in a company the size of Toolstation has done some due diligence....

Copper has a market price. The quality of copper in approved cables also has a price. If the copper in a cheap cable is less pure it will screw up your calculations and installations. If the copper in a cheap cable is as pure as it should be, and correctly sized, the saving must come from the insulation, which is not ideal.
Yes, you can find "offers" on well-known brands, but proper cable has a manufacturing cost, and a profit margin, and these are fairly constant. Cable at half-price will always have a question mark, unless it is a genuine disposal sale from a business closing down.
10+ Years ago. When I was an apprentice, one of the boys in my class was on a job. There was a load of cheap Turkish cable bought. (However, I don't know the brand, Ozler could be decent)

There was dozens of rolls installed and then they had to be ripped out because the cross sectional area was not consistent throughout the cabl

Proceed with caution

Edit:

It was Atlas Kablo which was used

Or not, given how defensive and closed ship they are when questioned on the subject.

Just received a few rolls of Pamukkale Kablo from EDs , I've asked for it to be collected and refunded of exchanged for prysmian . Having stood before a court appointed technical adjudication once before I'm not prepared to risk going through that again...for he sake of a few pence e on the price of a roll.
I have received the same from cef. Probably buying it cheap.

That explanation would make a lot of sense and would certainly explain the new bases and new boxes, with old relabelled alarm heads. I do remember...
