I wasn't sure where to put this so feel free to relocate if there's somewhere more appropriate.

I have recently acquired an advertising bar on the right hand side of my page (everywhere side bar v1.4.1.)

I t takes about a third of the page in width and unfortunately it's playing havoc with my page style layout and rendering other page elements unusable such as the results page numbering etc. Several other page elements end up overlapping and on top of each other.

I realise it might be rude to request to remove the sidebar on a forum where sponsors pay the rent but is it possible to reduce the size or location or the bar? Are there any user adjustable controls for the advertising bar or are they set globally for the board as a whole?

Thanks in advance

The great Marvoni :)

I'm having similar issues. The Forum Sponsors Sidebar used to have a toggle on it which allowed us to temporarily hide the sidebar but this seems to have been removed. By error or by design? Can this be re-introduced please? In the current format it is not a pleasant browsing experience.

I made the mistake of going on that 'other' electrical forum, :rolleyes4::rolleyes4::rolleyes4: there's no one there!
Their sidebar has the arrows toggle working OK.
Come on Dan, sort it out :smile:

Would this help...

Dan, the Everywhere Sidebar Toggle restoration procedure is:

admincp>settings>options>everywhere sidebar (ESB) options
set "Don't set ESB switch" to "No" and save

Although the side bar is a slight nuisance it is those advertisers that are paying for the upkeep of this forum.

Is it possible the side bar has an option to be reduced so that the ads are still visible but compressed?

The option for the side bar to be reduced does not work after the last forum update, the newer version of this forum software does not support that modification, we are awaiting a new release of the modification and then we will install and then you can reduce but for now you will have to be patient..

Many thanks Admin.

I use Google Chrome on a Netbook, so the screen's pretty small anyway, and I agree that the advertising bar does take up more space than I'd like!

But I have found that using the browser's zoom function to reduce the size also reduces the proportion of the screen taken up by the advert bar, which does help the format (so long as I don't reduce the size to unreadable!).
