Painting SWA?

R

rocker

'ello all. Got a job which is basically going to involve burying and generally trying to hide a bunch of SWA that some plonker has but into a garden in a very rough manner. One part of this is going to involve trying to follow the mortar lines in a stone wall with the SWA, which shouldn't be a problem, but would there be any problems in painting the sheathing grey? And if not, anyone got any ideas what sort of paint to use, and what kind of preperation to do.

Just to clarify.... I'm not looking for grey SWA, due to budget constraints I have to re use the stuff el joke-o has put in.

Cheers!

as long as the paint will not react with the cable sheath, no problem. think durham's got a few tins of battleship grey stashed away in his lock-up.

Wife says to husband...."Darling, we really should re-decorate the living room this weekend...."

Husband replys to wife...."The living room? I haven't got time for that! The swa needs re-doing!"

Im not sure, but I reckon the paint applied will not last long. However, as long as it doesn't all flake off before your check clears....

Sorry I can help more, perhaps the best thing is to ring-up the cable manufactor....but I reckon I know what they are going to say.

i dont have any battleship grey!! i do have submarine black though...

unfortunately i could no longer get hold of yellow do to a rage back in the 60's

if following a course in the stonework, could you not chase the cable in and mortar over. ? RCD if under 50mm deep. lol.

Latex/Acrylic paint doesn't chalk up very easily and usually doesn't crack, Sadolin are pretty good but expensive!!

I have seen a lot of swa cables down the sides of houses covered in 'masonary' paint.

Ring the people who make the cable and have a chat.

What colour is it going to be?

Id personally go for the 'polka-dot' effect. Failing that..... 'paisley'.
