Hi
I do some electronics work. For safety sake I was wondering if there's a type of panic button I could use to cut off the supply off a socket which I'm going to install. It will be run off an existing double socket. Once this panic button is pressed the power should stay turned off until I reset it. The soldering station am using runs off a 13A plug top.

so we need a device to kill power and rappidly cool the soldering iron.

How about a contactor circuit when opens also kills supply to an electromagnet which is keeping the valve to the sprinkler system off.

When push button is hit power disconnected and unit floods all sorted. you may have to put bump guards on pannic buttons though

What is it you’re worried about? You’re not going to rapidly cool the iron without water or something to assist. If it’s a large iron then solder dropping in to water can make quite a bang.

i agree Tony but if its very rapid with huge ammounts of water you should be fine.

Make the doors of the lab/workshop watertight and 6 big pumps chucking in about 5000gals a min eachshould do it.
Ah but wouldn't the soldering operative be at risk of drowning, thereby throwing the baby out with the bathwater?
You'd need to counteract that somehow. How about:

Pressing the emergency stop cuts off the power supply to the soldering iron, diving mouthpieces drop from the ceiling like on an aeroplane in distress, the perimeter is sealed, then the work area flooded to cool down the soldering iron.
I think there should be an alarm and a flashing light as well.

Anyone who presses the emergency stop unnecessarily has to buy doughnuts for everyone.
