I joined the Navy many years ago and completed several years electrical and electronic courses.
I left the Navy in the 80s with the intention of starting my own electrical business. I did the requisit course at Highbury Tech college in Ports mouth and came away with C&G in electrical installation work (lots of distinctions!!) to the 16 edition of the regs. I few years ago (9 to be exact) we moved to France and after a while I become a card carrying French electrician working for a French firm as a 'leccy'
Now I have returned to Blighty to live and find my quals mean diddley sqat as I don't have a Part B.
I am not particularly bothered as I am now retired but what is a bit worrying is I am in the throes of re vamping our detached bungalow so all the plumbing and electrics will be done by me. I guess if I was to be 'legal' these electrics would be not accepted by them that accept things.
Is there any way as a silly old sod I can get a Part B? ie are there any fast track courses/exams for us old knowledgeable but without the right qualifications?
Fred

Assuming this is not a wind up I guess you are referring to Part P.....which is not a qualification but a building regs document specifying standards for work in domestic properties. Most work in domestics will either need to be registered with BC for a fee,or a scheme member..(NIC/NAPIT etc) can self certify.
Anyone can carry out domestic work, but it must comply with bs7671,and where required must be registered with BC.....ignore so called part p courses, they are a scam.
