Part L1B of the building regs

Hi all,

Bit Confused, i am quoting for a loft conversion and some alterations including a bedroom and a cupboard being changed to a bathroom and ensuite and a wall being knocked down o make the kitchen bigger....
do i need to worry about putting low energy lighting in to conform to part L1b of the building regs?

In the area affected by the work in a domestic situation you should be applying the requirements of the building regulations regarding energy efficient lighting (and all other applicable building regs), i.e. 3 out of four lights have >45lm/circuit watt.

the works havent started yet but it has been granted by the council

I'd be careful as you'll have the inspectors involved.

Not wishing to teach you to suck eggs but the client will need mains interlinked smokes too.

Approved document L1B says that lighting should comply with the domestic building compliance guide 2010; this states on page 123: 3 out of 4 at >45lm/W
I think this is an update from the 2010 building regulations.
