Stu Too

Just had my Part P Assessment (and passed!) :)

Although I was asked one question particulat question ... so Stuart, whats the disconnection time of an S Type Circuit Breaker with timed relay. My jaw and other parts of my body hit the floor!

Funny thing is after I tried for 5 mins, he couldnt find it either.

Apart from that blip in my knowledge it went well, and the Assessor was great, some really good advice.

So I am now part of the happy band of inbetweeners, sorry domestic installers. (no offence to any exisiting DIs). Which is one step up from being an ex builders sparky, no offence intended to builders sparkies :)

I wonder if I can get away with saying I am D.I. Jones. :)

Anyway - enough rambling, answers on the back of a postcard or apporpriate thread response.

Little red book page 91 will give u tripping for time delayed rcd...now s type circuit breaker? with timed relay?....thats a tough one!

Re: Part P Assessment ... disconnection time of an S Type Circuit Breaker w/ timed re

If you mean a time delayed RCD (Type S) then trip times are:

1 x IΔn = 130ms (min) & 500ms (max)
2 x IΔn = 60ms (min) & 200ms (max)
5 x IΔn = 40ms (min) & 150ms (max)

Table 3A (page 243 BRB)

Made me laugh that the guy asking you the question didn't even know where to find the answer.
