I have heard a few people talking about this and then i had an email from the NICEIC about it being revised in parliment in october, in the governments efforts to cut red tape??

Surely we are not goin back to the dark old days again, ok i know its far from perfect but its a step in the right direction(albiet a baby step), if it goes back to an unregulated free for all im gonna just chuck it in an become a plumber:whatchutalkingabout

Cant they just come up with a set up based on the gas safe model instead?

Does anyone have any further info on what its all about??

they will never abolish the Building regulation Part P its too wrapped up with other building regs now!!

Correct, it won't be abolished, one of the proposals was to extend it to cover all installations supplied at 100A or less!

Agree with Durham, & wouldn't be surprised that what ever the out come it will cost us more!

They could make it so much more workable and fairer but profit margins will allways be the winner when the schemes are involved
they should be certifying the individual person not the company, as you get a big company with 1 half decent spark who deals with the nic and twenty muppets who aint got a clue doin the majority of the rest of the work.

But to be honest i hated it when it first come out but now, i do see a small improvements on standards in general since its started, and i feel im at a more level playing field now than without it, and it has got me loads more work with builders, plumbers and kitchen fitters who used to do it themselves, still plenty of chancers having a go though, they need to make it harder if anything and scrap the limited scope scheme - 2391 minimum for a QS - a child could pass the 17th edition multiple choice.

Whatever happens it wont benefit the men on the ground would'nt be suprised if some ex mp's sit on the board of directors at ascertiva group, there a stench of people getting rich and it aint me :(
