Hi all I have recently completed level 3 2330 succesfully.
I also have level2 and 17th edition regs passed.
In September I am hoping to do 2391 inspection and testing aswell as pat testing next week.
What I need to know is what else would I need to do to get Part P registered?
I am working in the trade but having to turn down work as I don't have part P.
Lecturers at the college I attended didn't seem to have a clue about stuff other than the stuff they taught.
Any help would be brill
Thanks
Paul

You need to have your 16th or 17th edition qualification C&G 2381, a knowledge of the building regs A - P (electrical areas only), or you could do the Part P one day course to get the EAL Part P certificate. A good knowledge of Inspection and Testing, if you don't then you have to take the C&G 2391. Register with one of the organisations for Part P such as the NICEIC, ECA, Nappit, Elecsa, BSI etc. and pay your yearly fee of approx £500.00.

thanks, does that mean the niceic etc will take you on if you do the one day course without
doing inspection and testing ? I have covered inspection & testing in 2330.

Yes, they will. However, you should have a good depth of knowledge of Inspection and Testing. What you learned on the 2330 will not be sufficient. I would recommend the you purchase Guidance Note 3 from the IEE (IET) available from good bookshops. Read this then consider doing the C&G 2391.
