hi all need a littal help have been offered a small job to put some down lights in a bed room the only thing is not part p yet. they have ask for a ticket didnt know if i could to it and do a minor works or if i had to be part p :confused: want to do part p just need jobs to show so was hopeing this could be first one
 
Yes..
More than likely not notifiable.
But with all due respect, you should be in possession of a copy of the green OnSite Guide...
Or download a free PDF copy of the Part P Approved Document.
Both give good examples of what is and what isnt notifiable.
A few grey areas in there granted, but this example is fairly straightforward.

Bare in mind also the provisions needed for clear areas behind downlighters in lofts..!!
Possible fire hazard due to overheating, depending on the type fitted.
 
12v or 230V?

"One of the quirks of Part P is that in some cases the installation of 12 V down lighters is notifiable where as the installation of 240 V mains downlighters isn't. This appears strange but it's because 12 V down lighters draw high currents and that combined with the wrong choice of wire could lead to a fire."


Haven't found it in regs yet, but am sure it's in there... Might be wrong!!!
