Hi

Im looking to install some lights in the passageway between my grandad's house and next door, the house is a terrace with the passageway between the two houses.
Currently theres no lighting so is dangerous especially in the winter months.

Id like to operate the lighting off a PIR but the alleyway is approximately 12m long.

Any reccomendations on light fittings to use?

I was thinking of using two Bulkhead fittings both with PIRs, (one at each end) if i wired between them in 3core+Earth either PIR will operate both lights right?

Many thanks
Ash

Hi Ash,
I would go with Mark Sparks idea, as that is what I installed in a similar setup.
2 x bulkheads with low energy lamps and a photocell.
Easiest and neat install ( in trunking though as fitted outside ).
Hope this helps mate,
Best regards,
Sav

Thanks for the replies guys, the install will be done in pvc conduit.

The use of a photocell means that the lights will be on all night? (dusk till dawn)

Hmm... dont think he would go for that one!
What are the occupancy sensors??

Occupancy sensors are exactly what they say on the tin - designed to operate when bodies are around. Time delay off etc and daylight inhibit much the same as most PIR's. These babies are generally 360 degree ceiling mounted.

Occupancy sensors are increasingly common in toilets/classroom and other public places mainly for energy saving purposes.

Have a look and Danlers occupancy sensors. A cheaper brand is Timeguard. but I have heard no bad reports for either.

PIR's will do the job - just suggesting an alternative :)
