Passed 2357!!

Just got my exam results through for unit 309 written exam and i passed!! get in!

So after 3 years of 2 nights a week i have the academic side complete.....still have the NVQ3 and AM2 to do though, so not quite there yet.

Well done mate, how did you find the exam?

I found it ok mate, i made a few school boy errors on questions i knew, for example, i was asked to explain a space heater and for some unknown reason i explained a radiant heater so kicked myself when i got out of the exam. Felt comfortable with all the equations though i strugled with motors. But passed so happy with that.

Sorry mate, as i say i found that part tough so didnt spend much time on it, when you dont know you just dont know lol............this is what i remember

they had a circuit diagram of a motor, asked what type it was, i said shunt.
asked what a rectifier is i said it controled frequency, it doesnt lol
what electronic components are used in motor starters (or something like that)

questions on luminaires, how they work.
work out the lux

capacitive inductance xl........work out impedance

power triangle....
block diagram for coal power
peak values, rms

star and delta question.

thats all i remember mate

cheers, not until saturday tho, got work early doors then down to Leeds for a manual handling course!! lol sending us all that way on a friday afternoon to pick up a box.

Yeah sounds like the exact same paper i had mate. They tried to make the motor look like a shunt wound, it was a series wound though.

The ones i got wrong i researched after to make sure i knew it. Its lots to remember and can easily go out your head. Anyway you passed so its happy days.

The motor questions drove me mad.... i never got my head around it all and christ knows how i passed !!!!

Same here Dazza, I missed 6 weeks of college at the time they were teaching the main parts of motors. I failed the exam twice!!!! 3rd time I creamed it and got 85% correct but a re-sit can only get you a pass. Hard subject with loads to remember, well done for passing it. PS I hate motor question now lol
