Now with NICEIC D.I.

was nervous but i had a great bloke as an assessor.

I notified labc prior to the major job which cost ÂŁ235 as i thought i needed to, turns out you dont and it wont fail you, so save your money!

If you have your assessment soon, let us know and I`ll go through the question he asked me.

I wish you'd asked the question here, there's this myth that NICEIC like you to notify pre-assessment but it's simply not true, the assessor is there to check your technical ability on the 1st visit.

Next year he'll take a bigger interest in your notifications and certificates.

I know a chap that paid his notification, had his assessment and then told LABC that the job had been cancelled, he received a full refund and notified the job through NICEIC 2 weeks later.....

Congratulations and well done

could you post some of the questions he asked and the tests he asked you to carry out so evryone who is about to do a assesment will benefit from your experience of it
thanks and again well done matey

many thanks for all the kind replies.

He did a visual check on my water and gas bond

Firstly asked to carry out safe isolation, you dont need a proving unit as you can check on known supply (his words)

next was carry out a Ze which he compared to what I wrote down on cert 0.20. then asked what was max for Ze for tncs

next asked for
R1+R2 on lighting cct used connector block in the board dont use the mcb, then put cover back on tested at furthest point (null your test leads) again he compared it to what i wrote down. also said this checks polarity aswell.

then asked to do a pefc and pssc record highest pfc asked me what the rating of the mcb was(6Ka) Icn,Ics.

Did an RCD test on sockets compared results on test sheet, you need to know max tripping times x1 & x5 (300ms,40ms)

first job was a c.u change 2nd job was adding a socket

next job 30 mins away

asked for a Zs on the socket, and what page can you find max Zs in regs? (pg 49)
whats the lowest insulation resistance you can have (1M)

best advice I could give is make sure your readings youve written on your test sheet a. your happy with them and b. reflect the installation. read through GN3

I made a folder up and put all my Qls, public liability & test sheets all together.

you might have different questions asked on the day! but good luck
