I have been really busy over the last few months, but its all down to luck really.
Since the company I worked for went bankrupted I have a lot of contacts that I now do work for.
My dad has a well known local building company that has not suffered from the "recession" I now have all of his work, my old contracts manager has given me work from his new company as they do not do any domestic work and even more luckily I was speaking to a random bloke that collected an item I sold on E-bay and he is a consultant for a fire and security company that that has offered me work and I won my first job yesterday.
But the main problem I have found since being self-employed is that unregistered cowboys (or sparky doing jobs on the side) will always be cheaper than a registered sparky. And its hard to explane to a customer that "ie the bonding need to be upgraded or the new circuit should be protected by an rcd/rcbo, and everthing else that is required to BS7671"
I personal think the part P is a good thing but its only solved half of the problems and more action should be taken to anyone that does not do a job to the current regs.
