The current v4 CoP has been around since 2012, yet most 'pass' labels still bear a "retest due" box, despite 8.4 stating "the date for re-testing should not be marked on the label".

I have a v1 (1994) CoP which stated (8.3), "the date on which re-testing is due or the last test date and re-test period should also be stated"

I don't have the v2 (2001) nor v3 (2007) editions, therefore am unsure when the CoP change was made, nonetheless v4 has been current for six years, so why are the companies producing labels not up to speed, other than wholesalers are just bulk re-ordering what they've always had and not requesting the artwork change?

The 4th Edition introduced this. When this came out I asked Megger about it and was told that a software update would not come out until other changes were being made. Eventually they updated the software to make the retest date optional but it was some time after the publication of the 4th Edition of the Code of Practice.

Do they even make labels/stickers that don't have a box for the date on them?

All the ones I've come across do

Though the point here is, the date recorded on the label, in accordance with the 4th Edition, is the date of the last test. From the label alone, you would therefore NOT know when a retest was due, as the test frequency would be contained within the risk assessment document. However, as originally stated, most of the labels commonly available at wholesalers and online, still (incorrectly) include a "next test date" field, which encourages its completion, in contradiction to the CoP.
