Anybodys thoughts on this hand dryer ive come across?
Came across the hand dryer doing some PAT in some offices. The hand dryer has been put onto a plugtop in a toilet, which i know should really be into a fused spur. Thing is its connected to a RCD socket above which is on its own dedicated circuit back at the board and is in a zone 3.
Do i pass it and give a advice note that its should be terminated into a fused spur or simply just fail it?

It's unconventional - do the manufacturer specify it should be hardwired?
I'd consider the implications - it's in an office rather than a pub, but what else is likely to be plugged in there? Is anyone going to have to plug it in with wet hands?
I'd probably go with what you suggested - test it as normal and recommend the socket is replaced for a FCU.

Looked at it logicaly and with the hight of the socket couldnt emagine it being touched fairly often. Give the recomendation and up to the client to decide what to do.

Two thoughts whats the power rating of the unit ..can it be safely used on a 13a plug for continued use? If so is the plug top a high quality one or a 99p shop special ?

the fact that it is on a plug means its easier to pat test otherwise you start to need breakout boxes etc or start using mft's etc.

Are you providing fixed testing at the same time as the Pat ?
