PAT test course ? Worthwhile ?

Hi all, I've just completed 2330 and now while working towards my NVQ portfolio was wondering if It's worthwhile doing the PAT course now as well ? Is there enough demand out there or too many monkeys undercutting ? Your advice and comments welcome. Thanx

To be honest I hated PAT testing and for me I would never had quoted for a PAT job as such, it was just something I would do for a customer if they wanted some done.

Saying that there are companies that do PAT alone, but I believe that it is so competitive that you are working for pennies rather than pounds.

As for the course, well IMO any training is good, wether you can convince yourself spending the money is worth it only you can answer that. If your going down the employed route, and it is a big organisation then another string to your bow is always an advantage.

Thanx mansford , I was just thinking of another qualification, eventually will be going self employed . But if as you say it's only pennies then I'll think again. As for the course no way is it harder than the 301 exam. The course is approx £200+ , and not sure how much the pat test equipment costs.

Thanx malcom, I was jus thinking of another 1 under my belt. But if as you say it's only pennies I may think again. The course is approx £200+ - And no way I think its as hard as 301 exam. I'm not also sure how much do they charge per item and how much does the PAT test equipment cost ?

some people only charge £1 an item,effort/pay = not much return

By they are robbing so and so's hate it when someone rips of a customer, there are perfectly good 'lick and stick the label on, and why bother geting out the van it is raining companies" that will do it for far less than that.
