I am planning to send a couple of guys to do a pat testing course. 2 years ago I did both the 2377 courses, since then the regs have been updated a little, is the city and guilds qualification still called 2377 ? .......................... Thanks Andy

2377-22 and 2377-32 (instead of 2377-11 and 2377-12) the new one is what is asked for, the old one is apparently no longer accepted.....as usual...

If you hold the old 2377 you do not need to upskill to the newer 2377. Just get the new IET code of Practice 4th edition book, and carry on. Not much has changed from 3rd edition to 4th but enough to need it.

Cheers...............Howard

Asked for and accepted (or not) by whom, exactly?

I think this relates to the urban myth that is put about by PAT testing companies who in my field of rental properties are telling letting agents and landlords that if you do not have 2377 then you aint qualified. I seem to to spend my time trying to educate them that otherwise so when I got tooled up for PAT I went to nightschool for 6 weeks to gain 2377 just to put this to bed.

Mind I sent a letting agent an example of my PAT services along with documentation ie PAT documents ,Cal certs, and copy of 2377 cert did not get any work but the letting agent went back to the PAT company and said they wanted to see Cal certs and a copy of each individuals C&G2377 funny thing was they for some reason sent a different employee to do their testing and they are still waiting for the original guys qualifications
