Hi

I have been given a small contract for PAT testing a lettings agency portfolio of properties.

As I will be overtaking their PAT testing from another company (presumably) I was just wondering what (if any) records I should be asking for from the lettings agency ie. Itenirary list/previous results etc.

OR would I be starting from scratch and recieving no info of past results etc??

It would be useful to have previous results to make a quick comparisons with new results to see if any deterioation has taken place.

Hi Chris
Although IEE Code of Practice says previous test records should be made available - I normaly find it benificial to both you and your client to start from scratch with asset database of their items. Previous records are sometimes not that meaningful and can be way out of date.
It also allows you to use your owm asset ID system.
In particular with lettings agencies - equipment has come and gone and turnover is quite frequent.

Hi there

It may be useful to get some records with the list of appliances tested last time, simply so you dont the miss the odd hidden extractor or insinkerator for example. also so you dont get a shock and go into a place thats full of appliances and you had only bargained on a few. This happened to me once when we got a job to PAT test appliances in some houses, but one or two of them were like mansions with about 30 appliances in!!

Pat tester

30 appliances !! WOW !!

Yes it is useful I reckon - as is said mainly to see what sort of job has been done previously. Mind you its not worth getting bitter and twisted about other so called "testers" as that can cost you alot of time. Suffice to say if the job is being done with the safety consideration of others in mind - especialy those who are more vulnerable - then we can sleep at night.
