Pat testing Help

Hi, been helping out a local spark ( just to get some hands on ) and was in a shop /office block doing some pat testing. I have done a little myself before ( I have my 2377 ) but thought some hands on would be good for me.

Now the office had a lot of computers, but all he did was to remove the lead ( kettle lead I call it ) and test that.

I was told when doing my 2377, that you also should do a Touch current test. I did ask him and was told there is no need for that test and only need to test the lead.

Also he had me put on plug tops in the shop a tested sticker, with his name and number on it, he did have some green pass sticker but said they don’t have to have to words passed on them anymore.
He then told me not to put them on the plug tops in the office as its not needed as the company would have a test sheet from him telling of the results.

So could someone please tell me if you do need stickers on every plug top and if they have to say pass, and also what tests are needed on computers. ( If anyone knows of a web site telling about the tests needed I would be greatful, as hes got me thinking about what I was told when doing my exam)

Many thanks,
Lyngarth

I think the guidance is that if an aplpiance fails, it needs to be taken out of service and labled as such, I don't think it mentions having the word pass if it is ok. I don't always use stickers, so long as each appliance can be identified and a copy of the test results are given to the person ordering the work then that is all you need. But as you say, I always do a test on computers, and test the lead seperatley.

When you do a test on equipment, the item is plugged in to your tester, the earth lead is attached to the case, this then gives you your earth continuity result which you should log.
I cant see how he is testing it correctly
