hi all please help

i hvae been begun pat testing for me company as i am on the only one with the certification. but would like to know if i am doing it right.

on the computer base i am doing earth cont and the then factuion linkage

on the screen i am doing a leakage test

on printers i am doing leakage and the same with laptop leads and phone lead

is this correct or have a lost the plot.

I think your plot is getting a weenie bit lost - you say you have certification, but for what?

1 PC processor (base unit) : Visual - Earth bond at 100mA - then insulation test.

2 PC Monitor (screen) : Visual - Earth bond at 100mA - then insulation test.

3 Leads for both these would then be tested as extension leads : Visual - Earth bond at 25A - Insulation then Polarity.

4 Printers : depends if mains fed or powered via an AC adaptor. Mains fed : if Class I as per above,

5 If Class II : Visual - Insulation, then Touch Leakage. If from an AC adaptor : Visual - Insulation then touch leakage, and if lead is 3 core test (it) as extension lead.

6 Laptop : Test AC adaptors as in 5 above - then if leads are 3 core test again as extension lead.

Hope this helps. Better get Code of Practice Ver 3 if you don't already have.

What type of phone leads are you encountering or are they power supplies for phone systems?
