Am I right in saying you dont need a qualification to do PAT testing? or be registerd with anybody? I am thinking of adding this to the services I offer customers.
I would like to gain the qualification in this and any info on this would be appreciated!

you are correct

you need insurance and a sound working knowledge of what you are doing.

HOWEVER if your competence was ever called into question in say a court or a investigation a qualification in that field would only be the get out of jail free card...!!

I have been doing pat testing since I started my appernticship years ago so have got the experience of it. Would like to have the bit of paper too though!

Hi Kevyn,

Steve is right and really the qualification would be good for you as it does bode well for you if anything goes wrong. I know we all seem to be doom and gloom merchants thinking of the what if but it does lend to be handy just if.

If you have done a lot of testing then the 2377 qualification will be simple for you.
Good luck,

Best wishes,

Rex

In the case of some of the courses I've attended, and PAT testing I've seen carried out by other companies even this shouldn't be a get out of jail free card lol :)
