Okay, I thought I new a lot..... but one question please, lol.....

I have an appliance with a 3-PNE 125Amp plug on it... its the size of my thigh and Im not a small chap.. how should I test this and can you recommend the test equipment to be used...

I was thinking of making an adapter for my PAT tester to do a continuity and earth leakage test... but the new plugs are £155 +vat, but its not practical as its the only appliance in 7 years that I've come across with a plug that size, and would never recoup the costs..

Thanks,

~Liberator.

I have a BS1363 plugtop with a bit of flex to 3 x croc clips which I use for such things. To test 3 phase equipment you'd just need to connect the 3 phases together as well.

I used cheap small ones from Maplin which are fine for fixed equipment or 16A plugs but you might need something a bit bigger for a 125A plug.

Like you say, no point forking out £155 for one test.

Just been looking at the Maplin website... they have lots of Croc Clips, can you recommend a type that you use please?..

They have small gold plated clips, 30A, 50A, etc

Thanks,

Personally it would annoy me having to use adaptors all the time. Can't you buy a proper UK one?
