Hi all.
Am new to this forum. Just been on the seaward seminar, anyone know if you test fixed appliances at wall socket using croc clips can you increase the earth limit to above 0.1 ohms as the increase in cable length being tested would probably cause a fail

No such thing as PAT. It's In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment. Of course the resitance of the cable has to be taken into consideration, just as you would do with a cpc in a flex.

Thanks lads. It's just on a predetermined test the limit is obviously set at 0.1
Not tested a lot of fixed appliances however that is changing

You will need to know firstly the size of cable and length used to supply the appliance to calculate the resistance of the cpc.

The other option is to measure the resistance of the cpc of the length cant be accurately determined.

As the other guys have said when testing the fixed appliance the maximum pass level will be 0.1Ω + Resistance of the supply cable

One question I have is the testing equipment you are using and how you are using it?
