Can anyone recommend any decent priced suppliers for either Paxolin or Tufnol?
I need to fabricate covers for a homemade busbar chamber.
Each cover will be about 700mm x 700mm and only fixed at the edges, what type of thickness will be required? Will 5mm be rigid enough?
Never had to work with such large sheets of it before
cheers

Presspahn sell various grades of SRBP online. SRBP / Paxolin P1 : Presspahn Ltd, Insulation for all!
I normally get Tufnol straight from Tufnol but don't know whether they will sell small quantities - we use a lot of rod.

If you are suggesting to use a 700x700 sheet as part of an enclosure with no other mechanical protection I don't think 5mm will be robust enough against impact damage. I would be looking more towards 12mm+ but it's difficult to guess without understanding the mode of use.

its just secondary direct contact protection where three busbars have been mounted inside a 700x700 metal enclosure. At the moment when you open the enc door you are faced with 3x400amp busbars. I want to see a barrier against direct contact and propose fabricating something.

Thanks for the link though

In which case I think you're on the right track, 6mm Kite brand Tufnol (P3 SRBP) might well do the job.
