Hi there i was wondering what code you would give for charred black and melted insulation on line conductor at termination point in fuseboard? the circuit is feeding a wall mounted heater in 2.5mm T and E cable protected by a 3036 15 amp fuse. Is it caused by loose connection what action would you take? Thanks

personally, as long as the fuse carrier teminals are undamaged, i would re-terminate it, extending with crimp if necessary. left as is, it is IMO a fire hazard and should be given at least a code 2 if not a code 1.

As it is, code 1.

I don't think it should be left like that, even if you are 'only doing a PIR'. It's clearly overheating and presents a danger.

It probably is a loose connection. Have you tried the connections?
Fix as Tel said.

Got a new DB out of this as you can see the the damage third from the end and then check the cable on the end fuse. But on another job I got called out by the a letting agent found the exact same problem with the immersion circuit so as a temp I doubled up the lighting circuits to one fuse and made safe the immersion circuit to another fuse then put a cost in for new DB the only thing is that was 2 months ago and me thinks they have give the job to the I&T company who passed the board fit via a PIR 6 months earlier only problem was the damaged was long term in the DB ??? A well there you go.

Also the useall culprits for these types of faults that I have found is Shower,Cooker and Immersion circuits
