Hi

Have done PIR of church today.
There are quite a few lights at high level, more than 30 feet off the ground. There are pews in the way and I cant get up to them even with a tower although someone has installed them off a ladder or with full scaffolding at some stage. There are also some metal chandeliers about 15 feet up I did R2 readings which were OK.

I cant really do Zs reading on these or heaters which are 20 feet up. The risk of shock is effectively zero as they are all wired in MICC and nobody is going to be able to touch them when they are energised.

Do I have to do Zs readings.

Thanks

and then just make a note on the certificate? I guess if you cant get up to do a zs then you cant get up to do a r1+r2 other wise could have done zs by calculation

You can list as many limitations as the client will agree to, each one reducing the value of the PIR.

Did you not survey the church prior to pricing/receiving the order?

You will be omitting continuity of protective conductors, earth fault loop impedance and polarity on these circuits, also omitting any level of detailed inspection on these light fittings.

I'd have allowed for a scaffold and completed the task.

Have only done periodic in domestic dwelling so far and quoted for them remotely as the general range and structure of such buildings are generally standard, but would agree that a survey should be done for such buildings before quoting.
