Hi chaps! I'm in my first year at college, and am currently learning two way and intermediate lighting, could anyone please tell me if there is any way of wiring this up without using a connector block in the intermediate? I must have spent most of Christmas trying to figure this out, then I found out it could be done with a connector block, but I just need to be sure that it can't be done any other way. Any help is greatly appreciated guys, Thanks!

Hi m8

a connector block is the only way I've ever known in a wired up 2way intermediate. I take it's pvc T + E cable.

You wont need to use a connector block when you come across singles cables in pvc/steel conduit 2way intermediate.

Hope that helps alittle. :D

It can be done without using connector blocks and is a more traditional way of doing it

Take a feed to the common of the first 2-way switch
Then a pair of strappers to the first intermediate switch from the L1+L2 of this 2-way switch
Then a pair of strappers to the next 2-way L1 + L2 connections
Then a switched live from this 2-way to the light
Pick up a neutral for the light at that position

Hi m8, and thanks for the reply, so you take the line coming from the lamp into the common on the first two way switch, is that right?

Thanks again!

Hope these 2 picures help.

1: is 1way & 2 way Intermediate which shows the the one with the connector block.

2: Also the other one shows the the way without a connector block "Not the best diagram to follow" but thats explains it better than words tbh.

Thanks Mikey, I appreciate that, I think the way we doing it at college is different from that in the diagrams, I'll just stick with the connecting block method and if our lecturer has a problem with it, I guess he will tell me the correct way.

Thanks for your help bud!
