Do any of you print photographs in large numbers?

I'm asking because my father had an Epsom R340 printer which has died.
He liked it because he could use cheap non genuine inks.

The printer had a six colour/ cartridge system.
The results were really good and his prints were quite high quality.

So can any recommend a good photographic printer than can run on cheap inks?

Thanks.

I usually put my pics onto a disc (after ive cropped and photoshopped them) and take them to Boots. Usually print off between 150-200 pics so its quite cheap. A lot cheaper and better quality than using my printer (Epson R300).

If you have a look on ebay you will find the listings for the printers that take the cheap inks. Epsom is one of them. Cheap ink ; in my opinion is only good for short term records , and is not waterproof and will not last the time a professionally printed photograph will.

It i

boots and also tesco do cheap prints, I used to use Jessops but they are gone now, they did really good prints and I got a lot done there on the 1 hour service with the kiosks for ordering...

Jacobs Photo do good quality prints and sell all kinds of top end photo stuff, but I don't know about their prices...

Boots in Woking is FAR cheaper than your own printer if you need a few done. The misses uses an online supplier (and waits for the offers)

If it's died due to blocked print heads (usual problem with Epson) you might like to try a print head cleaner before condemning the printer to the scrap heap.

i have a lexmark printer/scanner/fax. cost ÂŁ3 from car boot. set of cartridges about ÂŁ30.

I have epson r 300 for the last 10 yrs or so never let me down original cartirdges cost an arm and a leg so i use jet tec compatible and they are ok I have printed a few large photos and it seems good to me but i am no expert lol it also depends on the paper quality also

But for professional looking copies would take them to a shop to be printed

If you want photos that will last from a home printer, you need to use the best inks and paper. The cheap options fade away in no time.
So either do that or get them printed at a shop as others have said.
