Could anyone help me out here? I want to put together a ring light (for photographic purposes) like the one in this video. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkhkjtkPz8s"]YouTube - How to Make a Ring Light[/ame]
I would use 8- 10 40w bulbs wired in a loop and plugged in to the mains. The thing would eventually be mounted inside an mdf cabinet behind perspex as part of a photo booth which I would be taking to public events etc. My question is, does this comply with electrical regulations and if not how do I get it wired so that it does meet the regulations?
Thanks

Also remember to fit a portable RCD on to the unit

He said he ran the live in one direction then the neutral in the other direction ?????? and if you look at it he appears to wire the lights in a ring but all he had to do was start at lamp holder 1 and finish at 10 leaving live and neutral to to be wired together.

Also did anybody clock the smoke sensor fixed to the staircase at 3-4 feet high

From a photographic point of view why do you want a ring light? A light that big is too big for macro, useless for portraiture. Learn photography first then worry about the electrical regs.
