Just been refurbishing the toilet blocks in a school and the school govenor has said he now wants what he called 'Piped music system installed in the toilet, soft music to calm down the kids', any one installed anything like this before, is it just speakers and some amp/player in another room or what, he seems to think its a kit you buy??

Calming music in toilets ? is there a specific tempo of music conducive to opening one's bowels ?
Also need to make sure the soft calming music dosn't venture into the realms of romantic. Not great for a toilet environment in a school.

As for any actual advice, sorry I can't help you there.

FFS when I was a kid, schools were places you went to learn stuff in a structured, disciplined environment; nowadays they seem more like youth clubs or holiday camps or something.

This place is always good for cheap and cheerful audio equipment; you'll need a few 100v line ceiling speakers and amplifier, wired in 2 core flex rather than normal speaker cable as it will be above touch voltage.

Speakers in a school toilet...the kids are going to think Christmas has come early. I'd be more worried about finding an installation method that would mean they stay put even with little fingers pulling at them.

alot of these new schools are better than most modern office blocks, piped music or motivational music as its called is the norm, along with hundreds of pc's state of the art everything, even the teachers as smart as...:drool5:

Re: Piped music system in toilets ? Invisble speaker ?

If your worried about speakers getting clogged up or vandalised you could try fitting an invisible speaker from the likes of sonance .

schools are different now from what we knew anyone that went to a comp' school in the 70/80's its rare to even find graffiti belive it or not,if all the money spent on these new schools is for the better only time will tell

Absolutely - who ever learned anything from a teacher just standing there talking to them and writing stuff down on something as primitive as a blackboard?
No, for children to learn they must be pampered with the best gadgets that money can buy. In this age of equality every child leaves school with a certificate and an equal chance of getting the same job whether they bothered to try learning anything or not, but obviously that isn't going to happen for free - loads of money needs to be thrown at it.
Loads of 'government money'... Which comes from the government.
