Hi guys,

Recently I had a flooding in the bathroom and the kitchen ceiling came down, water was pouring into
the kitchen installation (approx 20 years old)

I am not 'Part P' registered, I have 17th and 2391. I replaced (like for like and therefore not
notifyable to local authorities ?) light switches, cooker switch, sockets and most of the cabling.
Everything is fine now, working ok and looks good.

My question now is? Am I legally allowed to do a full periodic inspection without being Part P
registered? I know that NAPIT requires a special insurance (in addition to the public liability insurance)
to allow their members to do a PIR. Technically I haven't altred anything, all the circuits were already
in place. The original installation don't have an EIC. For my own peace of mind I really like to do a PIR.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanx.

Sadly, you dont even need any qualifications to do a PIR.

However, most wont accept its validity if you dont have some form of proving competence.

So, there is no reason at all why you cant carry out a PIR, even if its for your own peace of mind.
