hello all,
what would you code a bathroom fan that has no isolator, fed direct from light fitting?
was thinking code 4 as does not comply but still can be isolated via mcb the same way you would isolate a light fitting etc.

also had to issue a code 1 for a db with enough room along the horizontal top surface to fit a small hand in. however i have been asked to do the remiedial work and wondered how id get around this without changing the board? cables are clipped direct above the db which makes boxing difficult. any ideas?

fan with no isolator is OK if bathroom has a window. as for the board. cut a suitable piece out of plastic trunking, cut to fit snugly around the cables . glue or silicon.

I do work for a letting agent and was asked to check out a shower pump I found that the fan switchwire , neutral & earth is supplied from the lights but.............
the perminant live is fed from the power shower spur.

And yes no isolation switch either

because the isolator is there so as you can isolate the fan for maintenance , leaving the light working to see by. if there's a window, you don't need a light. (obviously the suits at the IET reckon we all knock off before dark, same as them).

Is that a building reg though ? As in, is it in the BRB. or not.
I always thought it was a building regulation (Part something, not P). So in which case can you code it
