hi 2 every1,been helpin out on a county job recently,in a large store area, installed bout 10 years ago, lightin trunking etc.Been asked 2 reconfigure switching of lightin, orignal ctrl via 2 way & intermeddiate switches, these to be replaced as instructed by county. This is where the hassle starts,he wants 2x2way key switches remainin at each entrance, these will be used for over ride purposes to o/r pirs if faulty, can u belive that, especially when there r 15 pirs in buildin. When do u no these r over ridden, also all pirs 2 switch off after 25 mins, problems r now the lights r remainin on,& u can imagine the hassle to find the culprit, the pirs r not on klick roses,i think a big mistake, espec when fault findin, these pirs ctrl contactors by the way,ive sugessted leavin switchs & these ctrl pirs ,also klicks wot do u reckon ta ra bab

i think the prob is, its totally stupid to use existing 2 way switching, replacin these with 2 way key switches 2 overide pirs,if they go faulty.Imagine the hassle 2 actually no if the key switches r on override, there is no on & off indication, also 15 pirs ,2 find the faulty 1 or more, these wud b better on klicks,2 make fault finding a bit easier,my thinking is its either ,switches or pirs to ctrl store room lights,u cannot mix the 2,wot do u think hope its a bit easier 2 comprend

Might I respectfully request that you consider writing your questions in plain english? Having to concentrate so hard on deciphering what you are writing, does not leave much brainpower to consider an answer to the actual question. Poorly constructed questions will put people off answering.

I too am having trouble understanding, I do not think what they are trying to achieve is out of the ordinary. Are you trying to say that it is a commercial property that wants lights activated via PIR with a facility to overrride via a key sw. This would make sense to stop people using the switches and leaving the lights permanently on. I also assume the 15 PIR's are controlling different areas of lights.

ok doin a county job in a store room, these lights r ctrl by 2way switching, they want these replaced by 2 way key switches,4 overriding purposes in case the new pirs go faulty, why?,there r 15 pirs, these hav not been klick rosed,so now a problem arises when a faulty pir happens, which 1 is faulty?wot do u think how wud u install the new system?

exactly but the 15 pirs r controling all lights,& using the existing 2 way switches he wants these as 2 way key switches to o/r the pirs ,which i think is odd,wud u klick rose each pir in case of faulty pirs thanks

[ElectriciansForums.net] pir detectionIs this any help? Sorry the drawing is not correct for the switches but hopefully you get the idea and yes, a point for disconnection would be good for testing purposes.
