I have fitted and externa flush mounted PIR in a bathroom to switch 2 x 50w halogens and 1 x timer fan if i take the fan out the circuit it works fine if i leave it in the PIR just flickers on and off i think its proberly the electronics in the fan so im thinking will it make a difference if i put a standard fan in. Im sure you can switch a fan with a PIR.
Thanks in advance

Think these can often have a switching capacity which will vary according to the device being switched . What is the power of the fan? Could be worth checking the technical spec of the PIR switch.

Have you got a permanent supply to fan for timer board with a sw from the pir detector, also check the switching load the pir can handle also are the lights 12v or 230v.

The PIR is rated at 2000w and my next step is to put a relay in but not really a nice touch trying things infront of a customer but i will give it ago thanks all

right take a step back...

forget the relay idea..jesus talk about over complicating things.

firstly a 2kw PIR is MORE than man enough to switch your lights and piddly fan.

secondly the PIR has its own timer so you shoudnt use a fan with timer. They will conflict with eachother as you mention.

solution.

link out the timer module in the fan ( link between P live and SL ) so that only the PIR timer is controlling things. Now if it still clicks on and off repeatedly...its faulty so replace.

or

fit PIR fan or separate PIR exclusively for the fan

where should i send the bill?
