pir-max no. of fittings

retrofitting some pirs into existing corridoor lighting


can someone tell me roughly how many 2*9watt PL fittings (standard ballast) can be safely switched via steinel 1000w pirs

i figure about 6-8 switched direct


cfl not the best with pir-so gonna try a small section first

well I would imagine 1/2 of what you could switch with a resistive load would be a good guide, however most pirs will say what they can take as resistive and reactive loads in the spec somewhere.

ya the rating is hajlved or thereabouts for inductive


but i think there's a limit of number of these fittings also-just wanna play it safe without using contactors if possible

You need to establish the 'circuit Watts' of the luminaires (this includes the ballast losses) to derive a full load value for the luminaires.

Then call Steinel and ask what the inductive rating is on the particular PIR.

ya- i know how to do that basic calculation

i think there's a limit on the 'number' of these fittings switched simultaneously-i'll try to dig up the info
