pir`s and insurance companies

it`s a shame the insurance companies don`t request a current valid full pir as per wiring regulations to comply with the t&c`s on their policy's for domestics as the amount of work this could generate and also the safety aspects of some of the installations out there could only be a good thing. and i don`t mean the choc tea pot forms that some landlords try to pass off as a pir

commercialy most do ask for Pir and Pat pity they dont ask for all the faults to be fixed on PIR Company I use to work for did Pir on a national tyre fitters premises most failed on things like 3ph circuits with stuff tapped off in the field 3 3ph circuits in one mcb ( we only use one item at a time) submains glanded to wooden plate on sw fuse and the swa just poked in ( cracking Zs tho due to socket fixed to steel frame of building ) loads of code 1 faults but no remedial work they just wanted a cert to say it had been tested so IMHO PIRs r worthless unless the client gets the faults found fixed or the NICEIC Ect come up with a system whereby electricians / testers can deenergise a code 1 unsafe fault
