PIR's & HIP's

Was told today that the deptartment concerned have done a Uturn & home info packs are now going to include PIR's

Also that the odpm (or who ever they are these days) are being pressured by IEE , HSE, NIC ,ECA & all the others to make it a legal requirement that all domestic properties have regular PIR's & that part P is tightened up, with regards to DIYers & non competent persons undertaking electrical work, the reason given for this is that injurys & deaths due to electrical work are now split 50/50 between domestic & industry compared to a 40/60 split three years ago.

Anybody else heard anything.

i would love to see PIr's in HIP's, be time to give up the day job......

not sure about the 'non-competent' bit though.....

I am not a memebr of a competent persons scheme (and have no intention of joining one)

however, i would consider myself 'reasonably' competent in the field of electricity

the danger is that non-scheme memebrs will be seen as 'in-competent'

although some maybe....
